Village Theatre's 2013-2014 season will deliver an extended nine-week Issaquah holiday run of LES MISERABLES followed by the traditional four week run in Everett.

But before Les Miz, marches in, the season gets off to a rolling start (on actual roller skates!) with the tongue-in-cheek musical comedy Xanadu that became a surprise Broadway hit. After the holidays Village Theatre will present the award-winning comedic farce, The Foreigner, and that is immediately followed up with the world premiere musical, The Tutor; a new musical comedy about an aspiring young novelist and his sullen 16-year old student. The final show of Village Theatre's 34th season is the blockbuster Broadway hit Funny Girl. Fifty years earlier Funny Girl launched Barbra Streisand's career into the stratosphere; casting details for this highly anticipated "career-making" regional production will be released early in 2014.

New for Village Theatre's 2013-2014 season is a mid-week matinee Subscriber series on Thursdays at 2pm and earlier starts times (7:30pm) on Wednesday and Thursday evening performances. Last season saw record-breaking attendance for the holiday production of Fiddler on the Roof and increased subscriptions overall, brining their total to 18,400 Season Ticket holders. Village Theatre has experienced steady growth over the past 33 seasons; by spring of 2014, the end of their 34th season, Village Theatre is poised to reach the $10 million budget mark.

Xanadu
Greek Mythology Meets Roller-Disco

Issaquah: September 12-October 20, 2013
Everett: October 25-November 17, 2013

Book by Douglas Carter Beane
Music and Lyrics by Jeff Lynne & John Farrar

A spirited tongue-in-cheek comedy based on the movie starring Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly, this musical-on-wheels is a joyful celebration of the totally awesome power of love...and leg warmers. Ancient mythology collides with the world of disco as a Greek muse descends from Mt. Olympus to inspire the creation of the world's first roller disco. A surprise hit on Broadway, Xanadu boasts the movie's chart-topping songs like "I'm Alive," "Suddenly," and "Magic," and was called "simultaneously indefensible and irresistible" by the New York Times.

LES MISERABLES
A Passionate Tale of Love and Revolution

Issaquah: November 7, 2013-January 5, 2014
Everett: January 10-February 2, 2014

By Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg

The world's longest running musical, seen on stage by over 60 million people, and winner of 96 international awards, LES MISERABLES will take your breath away on Village Theatre's stage. An extraordinary cast will shine in the Pacific Northwest's first local professional production. From the comfort and intimacy of Village Theatre's 500 seat house, you'll be immersed in the streets of Paris as revolution and love play out their battles for those who dare to dream of something more.

The Foreigner
Madcap Misadventures & Subterfuge

Issaquah: January 23-March 2, 2014
Everett: March 7-30, 2014

By Larry Shue

All Charlie wanted was a little peace and quiet. So when he arrives at a fishing lodge in Georgia, it seems harmless enough to masquerade as an exotic foreigner who can't speak English. He soon realizes, however, that people will say the most extraordinary things when they think no one is listening, and what seemed like a serene getaway suddenly turns into a hive of drama and intrigue. An award-winning comedic farce, The Foreigner is both scrupulously clever and outrageously funny.

The Tutor
A Bright & Witty New Musical

Issaquah: March 20-April 27, 2014
Everett: May 2-25, 2014

Music by Andrew Gerle,
Book and Lyrics by Maryrose Wood

One aspiring young novelist thinks he has discovered the formula for success: slaving over his novel in the morning and tutoring rich kids in the afternoon to pay the bills. Unfortunately, his characters are starting to develop attitudes of their own. But muses can come in the least expected places, and his latest "cash cow" student, a sullen 16-year-old from the Upper Eastside, just might have the key to his success. Set to a fun and energetic pop score, this new musical comedy is filled with family drama, creative angst, and romantic blunders that will leave you smiling.

Funny Girl
Gorgeous, Spunky, and Full of Life

Issaquah: May 15-July 6, 2014
Everett: July 11-August 3, 2014

Music by Jule Styne, Lyrics by Bob Merrill,
Book by Isobel Lennart from an original story by Miss Lennart

The irrepressible story of Fanny Brice: comedienne, Vaudeville star, and one of the most celebrated entertainers of her time. Revel in the glamour and glitz of the Ziegfeld Follies, as you tap your toes to favorite tunes like "Don't Rain on My Parade," "People," and "You Are Woman, I Am Man." Whether, you've known and loved her for years or are seeing her for the first time, this Funny Girl will steal your heart away.
