THOM PAIN (based on nothing) Plays the Bathhouse on Green Lake, 2/2 & 9
Will Eno's 2005 Pulitzer-Finalist Play Thom Pain (based on nothing) a one-man show directed by Gianni Truzzi, will be performed twice in February at the historic Bathhouse on Green Lake.
Heading up this one-man production's two-performance run is Seattle Public Theater Youth Program student, 16-year-old actor/producer Torin Record-Sand.

The New York Times described the 2005 Off-Broadway run of Thom Pain (based on nothing) as "standup existentialism." Directed by Gianni Truzzi, a well-known player in the Seattle theater scene, who recently received accolades for Disco Pigs by Enda Walsh for Sound Theatre Company. "This intense, often-baffling work by Will Eno is a challenge for any actor to take on," said Truzzi. "But there is a naïve wonder and rage to the character that gains a new edge when spoken by a teenager, in that time when we puzzle through the meaning of our own existence. It's been exciting to discover that with Torin, who is an intrepid young talent."
Thom Pain (based on nothing) is an abstract expressionist emotional tapestry in monologue form devoted to both suffering and beauty in the modern age. The piece follows a (mostly anonymous) narrator's attempt at recollecting a series of events in his life--his traumas and pains, deaths and relationships, leading the audience through an often non-linear thread that pulses with a unique resonance, leading to a climax of uplifting but muted catharsis.
Record-Sand's resumé includes various Seattle Public Theater Youth Program productions ranging from Stoppard to Sondheim and William Shakespeare as well as two seasons training with the nationally acclaimed Young Shakespeare Workshop. Along with director Truzzi, the Thom Pain (based on nothing) production team includes 2012 Gregory Award nominated sound designer Lindsey Morck along with the talents of Kyna Shilling (Technical Director), Shana Bestock (Artistic Consultation), Leo Campbell-Klein (Stage Manager), and Adel Clifton (Properties Design).
THOM PAIN (based on nothing) will hold two [Free] performances, February 2nd and 9th at 10 pm following Seattle Public Theatre's mainstage production of The Understudy, at the Bathhouse on Green Lake, 7312 Green Lake Drive, Seattle, WA 98103.
