Doug Stanhope is a stand-up comic. Has been since 1990. His material ranges from true-life graphic perversion to volatile social criticism. Doug is vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited and is certainly not for everybody. He started his career in Las Vegas doing jack-off jokes for free drinks. Not much has changed, save for the mullet. Doug has built a wide-ranging television resume of dubious achievement. He hosted The Man Show on Comedy Central as well as the ubiquitous pseudo-porn for the sexually crippled, "Girls Gone Wild", both solely and shamelessly for financial gain. He has appeared on "The Howard Stern Show", "Comedy Central Presents", "Premium Blend", NBC's "Late Friday", "Spy TV" BBC's "Floor Show Live" while on ecstasy and wrote, produced and starred in Fox's "Invasion of the Hidden Cameras" and has even popped up on "Fox News with Greta Van Sustern" and "The Jerry Springer Show".  In 2010, he was the Voice of America on the BBC's  "Charlie Brooker's Newswipe". None of it compares to seeing him live; Doug is a two-time winner of Time Out New York's "Best Comedy Performance of the Year". He's appeared at multiple major comedy festivals including Montreal Just For Laughs, Aspen US Comedy Arts, Chicago Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Scotland, where he won the Strathmore Press Award for Best Act of the Fringe in his debut year. Selected by both Variety and the Hollywood Reporter as one of the Top Ten Comics To Watch, Doug has released four CDs and three DVDs including "No Refunds" on Showtime in 2008.

He didn't get to where he is overnight though it took just one release, The 25th Hour, for people to pick up on Dom's signature casual-California flow. Soon after - with the releases of FutureStreet/DrugSounds and Best After Bobby in 2009 - he found himself at the forefront of what's become known as the New West. But it wasn't until Dom released his critically acclaimed - and fan adored - From The Westside, With Love project that the national independent media changed their scope of focus westward. No longer was the region forced to cling onto memories of past rap greats or cheesy dance crazes. This was something new to vibe along with. Something fresh. Something cool. As FTWWL soared into the hundreds of thousands of downloads, Dom took his act on the road, performing everywhere from the legendary SOBs in New York City to Georgetown University to North Africa. It was only right that he brought it back to where it all began on The Original Dom Kennedy; a project reeking of inner city LA influences. But this tape would serve as a prequel for what was to come as he finalized his commercial debut - and follow up to a new age classic - From The Westside, With Love II. Earning a Top 10 debut on the iTunes hip hop charts while remaining independent, Dom dismissed the cynics and further proved he's cut from the cloth of the Kennedys. How did he celebrate? By launching a full nationwide tour and prepping his soon to be released project The Yellow Album; a project that will certainly dominate Summer discussions and year-end lists. Who would have thought an ordinary kid from Leimert Park could capture the ears and collective attention of people all over the globe? Not many. But it's happening right now. Some say Dom Kennedy is a product of his environment. Though partly true, it'd be more accurate to credit Dom's success to a relentless work ethic and a coolest-guy-in-the-room demeanor. He was born to be a leader. And lead he does. Where others go left, he steers right. Peers seek record deals in a cramped industry while he grinds independently. He thinks different. He acts different. He sounds different. It's no wonder he's regularly seen in magazines, on television screens and in your lady's iTunes. His progression is the result of sleepless studio nights, early video shoots and everyday meetings with his family and firm, the OPM Company. With the streets and labels buzzing over his latest project The Yellow Album, Dom is exactly where he wants to be - for now.

 Cowboy Junkies
Date: Saturday, April 27, 2013 @ 8:00pm

Venue: The Neptune (All Ages)

Price: $35.00 not including applicable fees
Seating: General Admission Seated
On Sale: Saturday October 5, 2012 @ 10am Ticketing Information:  Available online at

Tickets.com, in person at the Paramount Theatre box office (M-F 10am-6pm), 24-hour kiosks located outside the Paramount & Moore Theatres, charge by phone at (877) 784-4849, or online atSTGPresents.org.

With the 2012 release of The Wilderness, Volume 4 of The Nomad Series, Cowboy Junkies mark the conclusion of an ambitious schedule of four releases over an 18-month period. England's Daily Mail proclaimed "Each word and note of this album feels so deeply percolated and thoughtfully placed that it's hard to believe that this is the fourth record the experienced Canadian alt-country band have released in 18 months."  The Wilderness and its companion volumes, Renmin Park, Demons and Sing In My Meadow are also available as a box set with a fifth disc of previously unreleased recordings from the project. Paste said of the series, "Cowboy Junkies may never step out of the shadow of their seminal The Trinity Session recording, but there's no reason the ambitious opus of the Nomad Series couldn't otherwise serve as their masterwork." Cowboy Junkies were formed in Toronto in 1985 after guitarist and songwriter Michael Timmins and long-time friend and musical partner, bassist Alan Anton, recruited Michael's sister, singer Margo Timmins and brother, drummer Peter Timmins to join them. The band recorded its blues-inspired debut album Whites Off Earth Now!! (1986) and released it on their own Latent label. Touring the US in support of the album, they traveled extensively through the South and Southwest, soaking up the music ofWaylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers and others, which provided the inspiration for the band's second effort, The Trinity Session. The Trinity Session, the band's seminal album, is a melancholic mixture of blues, country, folk, and rock featuring a collection of originals, covers and traditional songs. The band has appeared on countless major television shows in North America from Saturday Night Live to Late Night with David Letterman and the Tonight Show. Their music has been featured in dozens of television programs and feature films. Cowboy Junkies returned to Toronto's Church of the Holy Trinity for a day in November 2006, joined by Ryan Adams, Natalie Merchant and Vic Chesnutt to revisit the repertoire of The Trinity Session in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The resulting film, Trinity Session Revisited, released as a DVD/CD in January 2008.
