New Scott Warrender Musical PEANUTTY GOODNESS Comes to Theater Schmeater, Now thru 7/20

Theater Schmeater is proud to announce a co-production of a new workshop with celebrated author and composer Scott Warrender of his new musical Peanutty Goodness, directed by Billie Wildrick and with Warrender himself musically directing and playing the performances.

A collection of seven unlikely characters, including a photocopy boy with a peanut allergy, a loveable CEO douchebag, and a failed actress beleaguered by seagulls face their existential crises with whatever they can get their hands on -- including the creative, hilarious and reliably naughty brains of the audience. Come help fill in their blanks as they sing dangerously catchy tunes, fight to be your protagonist, and collide with each other in a world YOU define as they search for the ultimate full happy feeling of Peanutty Goodness.

Warrender, best known for his hugely successful 1994 musical Das Barbecü, brings his A-game to an evening of music and chance. At each show, the audience provides 140 pieces of information that have been removed from an already silly script. Add Mr. Warrender's hummable songs to the mix and you get an evening of clever songs and gut laughs.

An early version of the show entitled Blankity-Blank was presented in 2008 by The Village Originals and received a workshop production in Dallas in 2011. While the show's concept remains, the script and score have been significantly rewritten. July's workshop involves weekend performances with mid-week rehearsals for rewrites.

The cast of Peanutty Goodness is Andrew Eric Davison, Brian Lange, Chelsea LeValley, Christine Riippi and Megan Tyrrell.

This is a workshop production, and changes will be made to the show during its run. While we are not seeking reviews, we are happy to speak to members of the media for previews or articles.

Scott Warrender/Author-Composer - Scott's musical, Das Barbecü, a Texan retelling of Wagner's RING cycle, premiered Off-Broadway in 1994 and continues to be produced internationally. Locally he's worked at ACT, the Empty Space, Seattle Opera and the Seattle Rep, while other work has included Asolo Theater in Sarasota, Dallas Theater Center, Denver Center, Cleveland Opera, Center Stage in Baltimore, and Goodspeed Opera House.

The song he co-wrote with Joss Whedon, "My Lullaby," was featured in Disney's The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and was nominated for the International Animated Film Society's coveted "Annie" achievement award. In 2002, HappyPants! premiered at ACT, sharing its world premiere with The Lyric Stage of Dallas' production of The Plexiglass Slipper. Most recently, Busload of Blonds was work-shopped in NYC, starring Jane Krakowski and Cheyenne Jackson. Other shows include The Texas Chainsaw Manicurist, Lights, Book of James, World's Fair Cruise, Dweeb Tales, The January Book, and Living Color, directed by Susan Stroman in an Off-Broadway production.

Billie Wildrick/Director - Billie's first professional review stated she "couldn't be more appealing if she were a banana." For the last (mumble) years, Billie has been enjoying a vibrant career in Seattle where her work in Sunday in the Park (Dot/Marie), Guys and Dolls (Adelaide), Wonderful Town (Eileen) at the 5th Avenue, Das Barbecü (Brünhilde), Vanities (Mary) at ACT and Seussical (Mayzie la Bird) at SCT has been celebrated with 2 Gregory nominations and 3 Footlight Awards. Billie recently debuted on Broadway with Scandalous and can be heard as Eve on the Original Broadway Cast recording. You can hear her as well on the original cast recoding of A Christmas Story in the creamy radio quartet and on Café Nordo's Music for Dining Vol. 1.

Billie is not at all famous for Rita's running piano ad lib in White Christmas and playing Dyanne in the first reading of Million Dollar Quartet at the coolest event of the year -- the Village Theatre Festival of New Musicals -- but she sure does delight in over-developing ensemble roles, making the band laugh and new works at all stages of development. Billie is a proud founding member and middle voice of the golden age girl trio, The Riveting Rosies. She loves all sides of the creative table and is fresh from directing Kiss of the Spider Woman at Second Story Repertory as well producing the first annual Seattle/Mainstreet Festival of New Musicals.

Billie has also written and performed her own original work at several venues that no longer exist such as the Seattle Fringe Festival, Liberty Deli and Thumpers. Billie hopes this was a coincidence and continues to write. Billie has been teaching many facets of musical theatre arts to all ages around and about Seattle for the last 10 years (the 5th Avenue, Freehold Theatre, Village Theatre) and has enjoyed running song interpretation/are-you-sure-you-want-to-do-this-with-your-life-? master classes at schools far and wide. Billie takes life lessons at the church of Maya Angelou and L. Cohen albums: Ring the bells that still can ring/Forget your perfect offering/There is a crack in everything/That's how the light gets in.
