ABOUT BELLEVILLE-

Abby and Zack are a young and impetuous couple come to Paris in hopes of putting their troubled pasts behind them, but their carefree façade of American privilege and tranquility is quickly fraying about the edges. A simmering romantic thriller that evokes strains of classic Hitchcock, Belleville poses the question we all dread asking ourselves: what if the person sleeping beside me is not who they seem?

"Lately, I find myself less interested in exactly what people say and do, and more and more fascinated by why," says Belleville director Peggy Gannon. "What is the motivation behind the action and what filter am I imposing when I interpret that action? A core chunk of Belleville explores how we make our way through the truths and lies that are scattered all over our lives. What truths do we hide from our partners, our friends, our families? What lies do we cultivate so that even we believe them? There are many ways to lie: fabrication, omission, broken promises, white lies, rumors, exaggeration, deception, plagiarism ... Are there just as many ways to tell the truth?"

Belleville is directed by Peggy Gannon (MAP Theatre's Soft Click of a Switch and Theater Schmeater's A Behanding in Spokane) and features the acting talents of Kiki Abba (Playing in Progress' Snowglobed), Tamron Harrison (ReAct Theatre's Prelude to a Kiss), Brandon Ryan (MAP Theatre's The Art of Bad Men) and Mia Tesfay (Intiman Theatre's The Children's Hour).

Belleville's production staff includes Brandon Estrella (Scenic Design), Julia Evanovich, (Costume Design), Tess Malone (Lighting Design), Jessamyn Bateman-Iino (Props Design), Joseph Swartz (Sound Design), Marianna de Fazio (Dialect & Language Coaching), Shane Regan (Graphic Design), Kacey Shiflet (Assistant Director & Dramaturg), Cole Hornaday, (Marketing & Podcast) and Becky Plant (Stage Manager).
