GROUNDED Sets Sights on the Consequences of Modern Warfare

By:
Seattle Public Theater takes aim at the dilemma of every drone pilot with Grounded: a high-intensity, one-woman drama by playwright George Brant. In this acclaimed story, an ace fighter pilot's career in the sky is ended early due to an unexpected pregnancy. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer, she hunts terrorists by day and returns to her family each night. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols half a world away.

"At the heart of this searing piece of writing is a bad-ass, complex female who is top shit in the male dominated, extraordinarily complicated, ever-evolving world of warfare," says director Kelly Kitchens. "It's a play full of ideas with which we must wrestle because we are implicated in the fight."

Grounded continues Seattle Public Theater's 2016-17 season and runs from March 23 to April 16, 2017 in the company's space at Green Lake, with an Opening Night performance on Friday, March 24 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $17 - $34 for General Admission. Visit http://seattlepublictheater.org for more information.
