BOHEMIA Opens 9/10

By: Jul. 15, 2015

From the duo who created last year's award-winning sell-out hit Seattle Vice comes a new cabaret about love, classical music, art nouveau, and absinthe. Bohemia is a new musical set in 1890s Prague that combines the music of Dvo?ák and Chopin, with art by Alphonse Mucha. Historic artists like Sarah Bernhardt, George Sand, and Oscar Wilde interweave with green fairies, aerial numbers, dance, burlesque, classical piano battles, comedy, and original songs.

Famous Czech composer Antonin Dvo?ák has hit a wall and prior to composing his magnum opus he looks to the bottom of a bottle of absinthe for inspiration. In this macabre and mystical dream cabaret Dvo?ák is seduced by "The Green Fairy" and is visited by the ghost of late composer Frédéric Chopin. Chopin and many other famous Bohemians guide Dvo?ák as they search for the true source of inspiration and grasp at artistic immortality.

Since Bohemia will be performed in Seattle's new art+food venue Nordo's Culinarium, there will be drinks, dinner and a Czech style service of absinthe.

Bohemia features new compositions by Mark Siano, Opal Peachey, and Dayton Alleman with a three piece classical trio backed by a vocal chorus (winners of 2014 Best Original Score from Seattle Theater Writers). The Head Chef for Bohemia is Mark Wissing with drinks designed by Maximillian Davis. Original aerial numbers choreographed by Tanya Brno.
