ArtsWest Playhouse Announces Artistic Transition Team

By:

Following the departure of Artistic Director Christopher Zinovitch, the ArtsWest Board of Directors have appointed a three person Artistic Transition Team to oversee the hiring of three directors for ArtsWest's upcoming 2013-2014 theater season.

With ArtsWest fully committed to the upcoming slate of productions, the search is on to find three directors for the productions Little Women the Musical, The Little Dog Laughed, andHair. To accomplish this goal, an Artistic Transition team consisting of ArtsWest Board Trustee Sheri Orts, ArtsWest's long-term Technical Director Jill Beasley, and SecondStory Repertory Executive Director, Mark Chenovick has been appointed to oversee the hiring process.

"We are pleased that these individuals with their combined years of experience and expertise have agreed to assist us in this most important search, with special thanks to SecondStory Repertory for allowing Mark to join our transition team. We are looking forward to all of our shows and are committed to finding the best directors to bring the shows to life," says Board President Judy Pigott. "Commitment notices have already gone out to all of the previously contracted cast and crew for the 2013/2014 season assuring the actors, musicians, and technical crew that we are excited they will be joining us this year," Pigott added.

In addition to Little Women the Musical (November 29-December29), The Little Dog Laughed (January 22-February 8) and Hair (April23-May31), ArtsWest will be producingThe Taming (October 2-October 19), directed by Tammis Doyle, and Third (March 5-March22), directed by Peggy Gannon.

The search for a new Artistic Director will begin shortly, and the Board of Directors are closely involved in the process. Further statements regarding this search will be forthcoming in the coming weeks.

The ArtsWest Apprenticeship production of Chess just closed to full houses, and the Conservatory youth program will be presenting Once Upon a Mattress opening August 7th.

ArtsWest produces artistic events so fiercely compelling that they require conversation, improve the imagination, and promote cultural vibrancy as a core value for the communities of Seattle.
