ACT Theatre is thrilled to announce the Seattle premiere of Will Eno's whimsical and poetic comedy drama, Middletown, beginning August 30. In his contemporary take on Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town, Will Eno (2012 PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation for Theater Award) digs acutely into American life, bringing the deeply human journeys of neighbor and stranger together in an "Everytown USA." Eno's critically acclaimed new play explores how the imponderable mysteries of the universe reveal themselves through the apparently everyday lives and relationships of ordinary people in an ordinary place.

ACT will stage this metaphysical and epic new play with a ten person cast of Seattle's finest talent and with a set designed by Stranger Genius Award WinnerJennifer Zeyl and directed by John Langs (The Seagull, A Christmas Carol, The Pinter Festival).

ACT's new Associate Artistic Director John Langs says of Middletown, "Some plays look to drill deep to get at the heart of an issue or a relationship, but other plays look up to the stars to ponder the meaning of it all, Middletown is definitely the latter." Langs, who has garnered a reputation for masterfully handling large works is a natural fit to direct Eno's most powerful and profound work to date. "This play is about the poetry of everyday life, and I'm thrilled to have a chance to bring that to the stage."
