There have been cocktails, there have been capes, there have been cages full of kittens, and now, for the final main stage offering of Annex Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season, there will be critters, and control groups, and caterwauling.

A Mouse Who Knows Me is a fully fledged original musical, with book and lyrics by Scotto Moore and music by Robertson Witmer. It has been in development for the past year, and is now deemed safe for public consumption.

Set in a university genetics lab where a group of researchers are injecting lab mice with human genes, A Mouse Who Knows Me blends science fiction, comedy and puppetry to tell story of Dr. Audrey Whitman and the mouse she calls Romeo.

When the doctor believes Romeo is developing human intelligence and empathy, the nature of their relationship begins to shift, much to the chagrin of her colleges. Meanwhile other scientists see military applications for the research, and the mice may have their own ideas.

With wry dialogue, sparkling songs, and literal mating dances, A Mouse Who Knows Me is an exciting world premiere, a fun filled musical in an intimate setting.

While Scotto Moore has written many plays including the Gregory nominated Duel of the Linguist Mages, and Robertson Witmer has made music as a member of bands Awesome and The Love Markets, and designed sound for Seattle theaters large and small, this collaboration is the first musical for both.

A Mouse Who Knows Me is directed by Kristina Sutherland, co-founder and Artistic Director of Macha Monkey productions, who has a long history of collaborating with Scotto Moore.

Annex Theatre is a democratic collective of theatre artists dedicated to creating bold new work in an environment of improbability, resourcefulness and risk. Annex Theatre produces new plays by living playwrights, radical reinterpretations of classic scripts, and ensemble-generated non-linear spectacles. Now in its new Capitol Hill venue, Annex originally opened its doors in 1987 in a former dance studio on 4th Avenue in downtown Seattle. Since then the theater has produced hundreds of world and Northwest premieres.

A Mouse Who Knows Me performs October 19th-November 17th. Thursday - Saturday 8pm. Tickets $5-$15. All Thursdays Pay-What-You-Can. For more information, visit www.annextheatre.orgAnnex Theatre is located at 1100 E. Pike Street, Seattle, Wash.
