The global hit celebrating the life of the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll arrives in Brazil. TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, nominated for 12 Tony Awards, opened February 26 at Teatro Santander as part of the venue’s 10th anniversary season. Starring Analu Pimenta as Tina and César Mello as Ike Turner, the production traces the icon’s journey from humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to international superstardom. Developed with Tina Turner’s own involvement, the jukebox musical features electrifying performances of classics including “The Best,” “What’s Love Got To Do With It?,” “Private Dancer,” and “Proud Mary.” A story of resilience, reinvention, and triumph, the show runs in a limited engagement in São Paulo.

The American Revolution, the new six-part, 12-hour documentary series directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt, will now stream for free until the end of the year.

From October 31 to November 9, the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo stages Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth in a bold new production by Elisa Ohtake, with musical direction by Roberto Minczuk. Inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy, the opera delves into ambition, guilt, and power through Verdi’s dramatic score. Ohtake’s contemporary take transforms the medieval tale into a striking visual experience, where excess, collapse, and madness echo today’s world.

Original Sly and the Family Stone founding members Jerry Martini and Greg Errico, along with Sly Stone and Cynthia Robinson’s daughter, Phunne Stone, kicked off the Everyday People tour in Las Vegas before their upcoming concert. The concert celebrating the legacy of Sly and the Family Stone will be held at the Club at the Cannery Casino & Hotel on Oct. 25.

WTTW will present An Evening with Ken Burns on Thursday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m. at The Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. The special event will offer audiences a first look at Burns’s upcoming documentary series, The American Revolution, followed by a conversation with Burns and fellow filmmakers Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt.

The world premiere of Lash by award-winning playwright and Fringe favourite Philip Stokes, performed by Jack Stokes, winner of the Theatre Weekly Award for Best Solo Performer at last year’s Fringe, opens at the Pleasance Courtyard on 2 August at 23.00, just in time for last orders (press performances from 4 August).

Produced by Lawrence Batley Theatre in association with KETCHUP productions and Richard Jordan Productions the show is performed by Jack Stokes in his Edinburgh debut.
