The Distance is a world premiere solo show written and performed by Ben Norris, a former Team GB runner and the voice of Ben Archer in BBC Radio 4's The Archers, directed by Julia Locascio. Part play, part extreme workout, the piece is performed on a treadmill throughout and draws on Norris's real-life experiences as an elite athlete. The show follows Chris, who is forced into cross-country running when the football pitch freezes, tracing a coming-of-age story set in the world of elite sport that explores ambition, identity, and letting go. The production is brought to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by Global Creative, Grace Dickson Productions, and Nic Doodson Productions.
