Sand at Summerhall

Sand is a non-verbal circus and physical theatre show by Kook Ensemble in which a couple, Dylan and Heather, navigate living with dementia against the backdrop of the eroding North Devon coastline. Alongside versions of their younger selves appearing in moments of clarity, the characters uncover truths about love, memory and resilience through floor acrobatics, acrobatic dance and object manipulation. The show was conceived and directed by Michaela O'Connor and Sean Kempton, with cast members Álvaro Grande, Dilly Taylor, Ebony Gumbs, and Myles MacDonald. The production was developed in collaboration with the University of Exeter and people living with dementia in Devon, with support from the National Theatre Generate Programme and Landmark Theatres.
