MURDER, SHE DIDN'T WRITE to Return to Edinburgh Fringe for 12th Year
Degrees of Error perform the improvised whodunnit at Assembly George Square's Gordon Aikman Theatre.
MURDER, SHE DIDN'T WRITE will return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for its 12th consecutive year this summer. Created and performed by Degrees of Error, the improvised comedy murder mystery will run daily from August 5–31 at 2:15 p.m. at the Assembly George Square.
Inspired by the works of Agatha Christie, the production features a fully improvised whodunnit created live each night with audience participation. Audience members select the murderer and victim, while the cast constructs a new mystery in real time.
The long-running Fringe production follows an ensemble of colorful suspects through increasingly absurd scenarios, with previous mysteries reportedly including deaths at synchronized swimming competitions and reality dating show recouplings.
The rotating cast includes director and co-creator Lizzy Skrzypiec alongside Rachael Procter-Lane, Caitlin Campbell, Peter Baker, Stephen Clements, Douglas Walker, Harry Allmark, Rosalind Beeson, Sylvia Bishop, Emile Clarke, Monica Gaga, Alice Lamb, Peta Maurice, Emily Rose, and Matthew Whittle.
In a statement, Skrzypiec said, “My dad was actually in the police force for many years and, would you believe, that he does not consider what I do to be ‘real' work. Ridiculous! He hasn't even performed in Grimsby.”
The Edinburgh run is part of a larger UK-wide tour continuing through March 2027, including performances across Scotland and dates in London's West End at the Duchess Theatre.
Founded by Degrees of Error, MURDER, SHE DIDN'T WRITE has become a recurring fixture of the Edinburgh Fringe through its blend of improvisation, audience interaction, and murder mystery parody.
