Opening Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe's 2024-2025 theatre season is “Soul Crooners Solid Gold Edition.” (Created, adapted and directed by Nate Jacobs.) The “Soul Crooners” productions have been pivotal in the success of WBTT: “Soul Crooners” premiered on a rental stage at the Sarasota Arts Center in 2009, has sold out multi-performance runs at the National Black Theatre Festival twice, and got a sold-out crowd of thousands on their feet during the “Soul Party” at Ed Smith Stadium in 2019. “Soul Crooners Solid Gold Edition” – a celebration of the music that ushered in a new era of soul during the 1970s – has not been featured on the mainstage since its debut in 2009. The production is a guaranteed dance-in-your-seats, sing-along, sensational good time.
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will present Brian L. Boyd in ENIGMA, the first Independent Artist Program showcase of the season. The two-night event will feature an original theatrical work created in collaboration with M.A.D. Music Acting Dance Inc. and performed by a company of WBTT artists. Boyd, a longtime member of the troupe with extensive stage credits, will return to Sarasota for the premiere.
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will present the twelfth year of its annual Young Artist Program, through which Troupe members can showcase their talents with self-produced shows.

To open its 25th anniversary theatre season, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe has selected a fan favorite: “Soul Crooners: Solid Gold Edition.” The original musical revue – which was written, adapted and is being directed by WBTT Founder/Artistic Director Nate Jacobs – runs October 9-November 17, 2024 in The Donelly Theatre.
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will be recognized with its sixth invitation to perform during the prestigious International Black Theatre Festival (formerly the National Black Theatre Festival), which took place July 29-August 3 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
