A benefit for Center Stage Theater

Thorny, uncomfortable, funny and surprising (and...sexy?), LOVE asks what accountability looks like when an abuser of power is one of our favorite men of all time and dares us to get to the other side of accountability and hashtags together.

"I wrote this play because there is a conversation around sex and power that I believe people want to have that we're not having, not in public anyway. Do we want dark truth to come to light? Yes. Do we want justice for abuses? Yes. Do we want to acknowledge and correct the exploits of patriarchy? Absolutely. AND we also want to delve into the relationships where this reckoning is complicated, murky, and colored by, among other things, love. I believe love belongs at the center of these reckonings, right next to justice and truth."  Kate Cortesi

There will be a post-play discussion with the playwright following each performance.

There will be a pre-show and post-show reception with a no-host bar.  Patron and Sponsor level tickets include complimentary drink tickets.

Times: Saturday, October 5 at 7:30pm
Sunday, October 6 at 2:00pm

Tickets: $150 sponsor (2 performance tickets, 4 drink tickets and a donation to Center Stage)
$50 patron (includes 2 drink tickets)
$20 general, $15 student/military

BWW Review: LOVE at Center Stage Theater
October 03, 2019

Just today, famed opera singer Plácido Domingo resigned from LA Opera amid accusations that he sexually harassed workers there. It seems as though such stories are far more common than they were a few years ago. In October 2017, journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey broke the stories of women sexually assaulted and harassed by the movie producer, Harvey Weinstein. That story was followed by an explosion of women who shared their own experience of workplace harassment. So many women posted under the 'MeToo' hashtag, that the systemic infection of sexual harassment became harder to deny.
