The Theatre Group at SBCC Continues Season With PRESENT LAUGHTER, 3/8-23

By: Feb. 05, 2013

The Theatre Group at SBCC is excited to bring Noël Coward's comedy, that the NY Times called his "valentine to the maddening, marvelous world of the theater," to the Garvin Theatre as part of the 2012/2013 reopening season of the Garvin. Directed by R. Michael Gros and featuring Guest Artist, Arthur Hanket,Present Laughter will run in the beautiful Garvin Theatre March 8-23, 2013.

Fresh off a highly successful Broadway revival, Present Laughter is one of Noël Coward's funniest and most delightful comedies. Devastatingly handsome and thoroughly charming, matinee idol Garry Essendine sits at the center of his own universe. While he struggles to plan his upcoming trip to Africa, his elegant London flat is invaded by a love struck ingénue, an adulterous producer and a married seductress, not to mention Garry's estranged wife and a crazed young playwright. Just before Garry escapes, the full extent of his misdemeanors is discovered and all hell breaks loose.

Performances will be March 8-23, Thursday through Saturday @ 7:30pm, Sundays @ 2pm. Previews on March 6 & 7 @ 7:30pm. The Sunday, March 10, 2pm performance will be live-captioned for the hearing-impaired. All performances have the assisted listening system available and the Garvin Theatre is wheelchair accessible. Ticket prices are: Previews $16 general/$13 seniors/$8 students, Thursday evening and Sunday matinees $21 general/$16 seniors/$12 students, Friday and Saturday evenings $23 general/$18 seniors/$15 students. Parking is free and near the Theatre. For information or reservations call the Garvin Theatre Box Office at 805-965-5935 or purchase tickets online at www.theatregroupsbcc.com.
