TheatreWorks Extends THE 39 STEPS Through 2/20
With audiences lining up for a chance to see this uproarious hit, TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley will now extend THE 39 STEPS through February 20 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Added performances will include: Feb 18 at 8pm, Feb 19 at 8pm, and Feb 20 at 2pm.
Adapted by Patrick Barlow from the book by John Buchan and the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, this hilarious spoof abounds with chicanery, espionage, dastardly murders, and devastatingly beautiful women, and features four fearless actors playing dozens of roles, creating trains, planes, and moors, with little more than the coats on their backs in a wildly funny flight to the height of theatrical invention. For tickets and information, the public may call 650-463-1960 or visit www.theatreworks.org.
Hitchcockian references fly like birds in THE 39 STEPS. Richard Hannay is a notorious fugitive, and a man who knows too much, and Pamela is a breathtaking blonde, just a stranger on a train. This irresistible Broadway smash hurtles the unlikely pair north by northwest in a dizzying pursuit to Scotland's most remote highlands, leaving audiences with vertigo. The San Jose Mercury News declared the show "truly ingenious," adding "THE 39 STEPS will have you spellbound." The San Francisco Bay Times raved "THE 39 STEPS delivers big laughs in a theatrical adventure you'll never forget. Highest recommendation!" "Absolutely hilarious!" concurred The Daily News. "The laughs just keep coming." The San Mateo Daily Journal dubbed it simply "One of the very funniest shows of the season."
