Tenderloin Health Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Sunset Cruise 6/17

By:

Tenderloin Health, a social service agency providing health services to the homeless and residents of the Tenderloin, is celebrating 20 years of service with a sunset cruise on the Bay, Thursday June 17, 5:45 to 9 PM, leaving from Pier 40 in San Francisco. Guests will sail on the Commodore Fume Blanc for an hour followed by entertainment, silent auction and presentation of awards. Tickets are $125 with special benefit categories from $500 to $25,000.

Honorees for this year’s event are Barbara Garcia, Deputy Director of Health at SF Dept of Public Health, and the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund. The Department of Public Health collaborates with Tenderloin Health in providing medical and HIV services to the underserved communities of the Tenderloin. The Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund has supported the agency almost since its beginnings.

Jazz singer Russ Lorenson, currently performing a tribute to Tony Bennett at the Eureka Theater, local cabaret star Linda Kosut, and Chuck Gee & Friends will provide entertainment for the event. Host for the evening is Geoffrey Grier of the SF Recovery Theater. Complimentary cocktails and hors’ d’oeuvres will be served and guests will be able to bid on a variety of donated items during a silent auction.
With over 6,000 unduplicated residents served by the agency in 2009/2010, all benefit proceeds will be used to support its healthcare, housing and social services programs. Tenderloin Health’s mission is to optimize the health of the Tenderloin’s homeless, poor and most vulnerable residents, by serving those living with and at the greatest risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS, and those who have difficulty obtaining services elsewhere, especially due to substance abuse, mental illness, sexual orientation, gender identity, race and ethnicity and/or other social barriers.

Tickets are available by calling (415) 437-2900 Ext. 104 or by email at zareh.amirkhanian@tlhealth.org.
