Sequel to Acclaimed HEY HEY LBJ Comes to San Francisco Fringe

By: Aug. 07, 2017

"Return to the Scene of the Crime" - David Kleinberg's one-man sequel to his acclaimed "Hey, Hey, LBJ!" - receives its Bay Area debut next month with four shows as part of the San Francisco Fringe Festival at the Exit Theater, 156 Eddy Street.

"Return" is about Kleinberg going back to Vietnam last year for the first time in 50 years to visit where his buddies died and try to perform "Hey, Hey, LBJ!" under threat of arrest from the Communist government.

The feelings are so intense that Kleinberg is up at 3 each night looking for the first flight home. What will it be like at Cu Chi when he returns to where his friends were killed in a bunker he should have been in? Will he get to perform "LBJ" and, if so, will the communist intervene? And finally will he find the beloved alley where he lived for three months in Saigon while editing the 25th infantry division newspaper? One man returns to face his past.

Dates:

Fri 9/8 7 pm

Tue 9/12 7 pm

Sun 9/17 5:30 pm

Thur 9/21 8:30 pm

David Kleinberg was an editor/writer at the San Francisco Chronicle for 34 years, the last 14 as editor of the Sunday Datebook. He has also been a comedian for 10 years, and worked with Robin Williams, Dana Carvey and Richard Lewis.
