NOISES OFF Opens this Weekend at CCT, 9/27

By:

Opening this weekend, Curtain Call Performing Arts (CCPA) presents the stage comedy, Noises Off at the California Conservatory Theatre (CCT), in downtown San Leandro. Inside the intimate theatre venue of CCT audiences will laugh all night long to the hilarious play running September 27 through October 26, as the show closes out the 2012/2013 season for the budding company.

Written in 1982 by the English playwright Michael Frayn, Noises Off opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York City on December 11, 1983. The funniest of modern comedies and a farce within a face, the play takes the clichés of the genre and shakes them up in a wild comic blender into a hilarious melee of compromising situations and eccentric characters as they stampede in and out of doors, voices rising, trousers falling-to create something truly brilliant and unique. A tour de force for the actors and a special treat for the audiences, this hysterical and classically comic play features a cast of accomplished Bay Area actors and is primed to be the company's next hit.

Curtain Call's steampunked summer 2012 production of Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, was nominated for ten (10) BroadwayWorld.com San Francisco regional awards including Best Musical, and was called "...a must see theatrical event..." by the site's own Linda Hodges. The company's summer production ofAnything Goes, which closed almost exactly a month before 'Noises' opens on Friday, was critically acclaimed and drew sold out houses. Audiences were thrilled by the rich choreography and vibrant cast of the large show in the intimate space. Curtain Call is excited to close out the 2012/2013 season with a comedic bang.

"Our fourth season has been a fantastic ride for all of us. We have grown so much and I could not think of a better way to close out the season than with this hilarious stage comedy. Also, we are thrilled to have such a talented and funny cast," explained Andrea Gorham, CCPA Founding Artistic Director. "Pushing the limits of the theatre continues to be our goal, and our audiences are enjoying the ride.

Noises Off is presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. CCPA's fall production is directed by Erik Scanlon, and stars as ensemble cast of Kim Doppe at Dotty Otley, Kendall Tieck as Lloyd Dallas, Josh Milbourne as Garry Lejeune, Lauren Rosi as Brooke Ashton, Caroline Schneider as Poppy Norton-Taylor, Justin DuPuis as Frederick Fellows, Anne Milbourne as BeLinda Blair, Lavale-William Davis as Tim Allgood, and Bruce Kaplan as Selsdon Mowbray.

The fall main stage production runs September 27 - October 26 at the California Conservatory Theatre, 999 East 14th St., San Leandro, CA 94577. Tickets are $25 Adult General Admission and $22 for Student/Senior. For tickets and information, visit http://www.curtaincallperformingarts.org/ or call (510) 909-9516.
