Michael McDonald to Play Punch Line Tonight & Tomorrow

By:

Actor/comedian Michael McDonald will be performing at the Punch Line in San Francisco this Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24.

Michael McDonald is originally from Orange County, California. He is an alumnus of the famed Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles.

McDonald has recurring roles on the hit Showtime series "House Of Lies" and "Web Therapy." He can currently be seen opposite Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in the 20th Century Fox it comedy "The Heat" directed by Paul Feig.

His first professional writing and acting jobs came from Concorde Pictures, Roger Corman's infamous low-budget movie studio. Starting as an extra, McDonald quickly landed dozens of film roles, eventually moving behind the camera to write and direct for the studio.

In the 1990's, McDonald worked steadily in television, landing guest spots on "Seinfeld," "Ellen," "Just Shoot Me" and "News Radio." Finally, in 1998, he obtained a starring role on "MADtv," where he enjoyed an unprecedented ten-year run. While there, McDonald created several popular characters - most notably man-child Stuart Larkin, Marvin Tikkvah, Rusty Miller, and Mofaz, the Depressed Persian Tow Truck Man.

In 2007, McDonald left "MADtv" to work both behind and in front of the camera on a variety of television shows and in film. He co-starred in all three "Austin Powers" films, has appeared on every season of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" and guest-starred on the hit series "Scrubs" and "Desperate Housewives." McDonald was a writer, director, and producer for several seasons of "Cougar Town" and has directed episodes of the hit series "2 Broke Girls," "Scrubs," "MADtv" and "7th Heaven."

In addition, McDonald continues to tour as a stand-up comedian, performing to sold-out audiences across the country. His first hour-long comedy special, titled "Michael McDonald: Model. Citizen.," aired on Showtime in 2010 and is now a best-selling DVD.
