Catch a Free SFIAF 2015 Bus to Fort Mason from BART

By:

The San Francisco International Arts Festival is pleased to announce that a free bus shuttle provided by Storer Coachways will run from the two BART Stations to provide free service for Festival audiences going to and returning from the Fort Mason Center from May 21 to June 7 -- to coincide with the dates of the Festival. The buses will run from before the first performances of the day and until after the last events at night. The full schedule for the buses can be seen here.

To reserve seats for the bus audience members should first purchase their tickets to the Festival online and they will be sent a link to the box office web site to secure their places.

Festival Director, Andrew Wood said of the bus service, "We are really thrilled to be back at the Fort Mason Center Mason as part of the FMC Presents series. It is a perfect place for the Festival to be for a number of reasons. However, increasingly a lot of our audience members live outside of the City of San Francisco, many of them in either the East Bay or on the Peninsular. For those people and for some folks on the East Side there can be a sense that Fort Mason is far away. So to make it easier to get from outside the City on public transport to Fort Mason Storer Coachways are bringing our audience to us."

There were two goals in the decision to secure the buses. The first was to get audiences to the Marina district quickly and efficiently without them having to drive. The second was to increase the sense of security that some people have when leaving Fort Mason at night on public transport. Wood observed, "At night, in order to catch the 33, 47 or 49 a person has to climb up over Upper Fort Mason to the corner of Bay and Van Ness. It's dark and street lighting is not uniform. The shuttle bus will come into the parking lot in lower Fort Mason and take passengers from there."

San Francisco International Arts Festival runs at the Fort Mason Center, May 21 - June 7, 2015, featuring multiple performances. For tickets and information, visit www.sfiaf.org or call 800-838-3006. Information: 415-399-9554.
