Theatres are usually dark on Monday nights, but several times each year Berkeley Repertory Theatre makes them glow with Page to Stage, a series of talks that engage brilliant guests in sparkling conversation. Today, the Tony Award-winning theatre announced that Artistic Director Tony Taccone will moderate a chat with Obie Award-winner MarK Wing-Davey, only days before he brings the Bard back with a bang in Pericles, Prince of Tyre. This free event on April 8 takes place at the new Osher Studio in the Arts Passage at Berkeley Central. The address is 2055 Center Street in downtown Berkeley, only half a block from BART.

Every year, hundreds of people enjoy Page to Stage. Past programs have featured luminaries such as Sarah Jones, Tony Kushner, Michael Mayer, Terrence McNally, Rita Moreno, Salman Rushdie, and Lemony Snicket. No tickets are necessary for these free events, but seating is limited. Each talk begins at 7:00 PM; the lobby opens at 6:00 PM, and the studio opens at 6:30 PM for general-admission seating.

Action, adventure, emotion and awe... Expect that and more when Wing-Davey brings a nimble take on Shakespeare to Berkeley Rep. He's previously served up diverse works such as Mad Forest, The Beaux' Stratagem, The Life of Galileo, and 36 Views. Now he delivers a riveting look at Pericles, Prince of Tyre. A virtuous man clings to the mast of a storm-tossed ship as his family reels from palace to brothel to a sacred Greek temple. Knights and pirates, villains and kings... Discover the excitement of Shakespeare all over again in Pericles, Prince of Tyre. We promise: despite the tides of fate, the good guys are "led on by heaven and crown'd with joy at last."

MarK Wing-Davey first came to prominence in the United States in 1992 with his celebrated production of Caryl Churchill's Mad Forest at New York Theatre Workshop. His other credits include American Repertory Theater, the Goodman Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Lincoln Center, Manhattan Theatre Club, the Mark Taper Forum, Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Yale Repertory Theatre, as well as shows at London's National and Royal Court Theatres and musicals in the West End and Australia. Pericles is his fifth show at Berkeley Rep, and he also directed an acclaimed Angels in America for American Conservatory Theater. Wing-Davey is an arts professor at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and chair of its Graduate Acting Program.

Pericles, Prince of Tyre runs from April 12 through May 26. For more information about Page to Stage or tickets to the show, call (510) 647-2949 or click berkeleyrep.org.
