By:
Mel Brooks' Tony winning Best Musical The Producers comes to Hillbarn Theatre in Foster City May 4 – 27. For more information, call the Box Office at 650-349-6411 or visit www.HillbarnTheatre.org.

In 2001, Mel Brooks adapted his hit 1968 film The Producers into a hysterical musical comedy that made Tony Award history by winning a record-breaking 12 statues. Brooks' musical was made into a 2005 movie, starring original Broadway leads Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

What happens when a shifty Broadway producer and a mosey accountant team up to create the worst show in Broadway history?  They create a big hit!  Max Bialystock, a once great Broadway producer cons Leo Bloom, his accountant, and together they attempts to produce the biggest flop possible. "Springtime for Hitler," their masterpiece turns out to be a smash, ruining all the plans they had for their success with a failure.

Hillbarn Theatre's The Producers is directed by veteran Broadway performer and award-winning director Bill Starr, and features Luke Chapman of Redwood City as Leo Bloom, Dan Demers of San Mateo as Max Bialystock, Ron Lopez Jr from San Carlos as Fraz Libkind, Greg Lynch of San Francisco as Carmen Ghia, Raymond J Mendonca from Fremont as Roger DeBris, and Kate Paul from Oakland.   The hard working ensemble of prisoners, stormtroopers, and little old ladies features kathryn Aarons, Karen Althoff, Paul Amornkul, Kay "Kiki" Arnaudo, Darrell Batchelder, Dale Brewer, Samantha Brewer, Jennifer Butler, Alyson Chilton, Melody Cole, Maggie Ek, Alexa Fallon, Gary Gerber, Sara Faye Goldrath, Joyce Jacobson, Stacey Kennedy, Robert Konopka, Amnon Levy, Rebecca Mayfield, Claudia McCarley, Martha McDowell, Jeff Moon, and Christina Murdock.

Greg Sudmeier is the musical director and Gary Stanford is the choreographer.

The Producers runs May 4 – 27 at Hillbarn Theatre, 1285 East Hillsdale Blvd. in Foster City. Performances are Thursday – Saturday 8 PM and Sunday 2 PM.
