Connie Champagne in 'Yellow Brick Road' at NCTC Opens 7/14

By:

The New Conservatory Theatre Center kicks off the Summer Cabaret Series with Connie Champagne as Judy Garland in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road from July 13 - August 12.

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, directed by F. Allen Sawyer and musical direction by Joe Collins, showcases the repertoire that Garland might sing today. Ballads from the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Elton John, Broadway songs from John Cameron Mitchell and Jerry Herman, and some improbable rock tunes that take on a whole new meaning once they get Judy-fied," states press notes.

Singer, actor, songwriter, and all-around entertainer, Connie Champagne has received outstanding critical praise from both fans and media.  Miss Champagne was the winner of the SF Weekly Wammie Award for Outstanding Cabaret/Lounge Performer. As an actor, Connie has appeared in Los Angeles and New York performing her acclaimed one-woman show, This Is War! She also received rave notices for performances as the cult heroine Neely O'Hara in Phillip R. Ford's long-running stage adaptation of The Valley of the Dolls, and won the Dean Goodman Award for Outstanding Cabaret show for 'IMAGINE Judy Garland: An Evening With Connie Champagne.'"

The show opens July 14 after one preview July 13, with performances through August 12.  Show times are Fridays & Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM.

All performances will take place at The New Conservatory Theatre Center's Theatre III, located at 25 Van Ness Avenue near Market, in San Francisco.

Tickets are $18 for the July 13 preview and $28 for all other performances (NCTC Pride Season Subscribers receive $3 off per ticket). Tickets are available at NCTC's Box Office 415-861-8972, or online at www.nctcsf.org.   For more information visit www.conniechampagne.com.
