CARRIE THE MUSICAL Opens Tonight at Ray of Light Theatre

By:

Ray of Light Theatre, San Francisco's inimitable, feisty, non-profit musical theatre company, is ecstatic to present the bloodiest show you'll see this year - CARRIE THE MUSICAL - based on Stephen King's best-selling novel. If you've read the book or seen the film, you know the story: Outcast Carrie White is bullied by the popular kids and tormented by her overprotective mother, only to discover she has an inner power that has the potential to change everything. Especially at the prom!

A legendary flop on Broadway when it first opened in 1988, CARRIE THE MUSICAL was rebuilt from the ground up by the show's original authors for a recent hit off-Broadway production. Now Ray of Light Theatre is proud to present its West Coast Premiere, where you'll experience this powerful and evocative work in a surprisingly effective new way. Complete with a live on-stage band, incredible sets, amazing costumes and some of the best talent around, this bloody good show is not to be missed!

Ray of Light Theatre knows how to mount blockbuster productions, and our 2013 Season will surely go down as our best and most ambitious yet. Past triumphs include wildly successful and critically recognized productions like Sweeney Todd in 2012 (winner of one and nominated for 6 BATCC Awards), The Full Monty (2012), Assassins in 2011 (winner of 8 BATCC Awards), Jerry Springer the Opera in 2010 (nominated for 9 BATCC Awards), BABY: A Musical in 2010 (winner of 6 BATCC Awards), The Who's Tommy in 2009 (winner of 6 BATCC Awards), The Rocky Horror Show in 2008 (nominated for 5 BATCC Awards) as well as Bat Boy: The Musical in 2005 and 2006 (named a Top 10 show of the year by The SF Bay Guardian).
