Broadway By the Bay to Present ANYTHING GOES, 11/7-23

By:

The timeless musical ANYTHING GOES runs from November 7th through 23rd at the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City (2215 Broadway Street, Redwood City, CA).

"Good authors too who once knew better words, now only use four-letter words writing prose... Anything goes!" All-aboard, to the famous Cole Porter musical featuring such hits as "It's De-Lovely" and "I Get a Kick out of You." Reno Sweeney jumps on board the S.S. American and heads out to sea with a cast of singing sailors and criminals in disguise. A case of mistaken identities and broken hearts adds to this classic romantic comedy and its ultimate happy ending.

ANYTHING GOES (Beaumont 1987 version) played for 784 performances on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre starring Patty LuPone, Howard McGillin and Bill McCutcheon. It won 3 Tony awards for Revival, Leading Actress and Choreography. In 2011, it was revived at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre starring Sutton Foster and Joel Grey.

"In 1934, Cole Porter's ANYTHING GOES opened on Broadway starring Ethel Merman. Since then, the show has had three Broadway revivals, two films, a televised movie, and countless professional and amateur productions mounted across the globe. In all of these various renditions of ANYTHING GOES, two things remain constant: a glorious score of Cole Porter tunes and pure, unabashed fun... The orchestrations and vocal arrangements are full and fabulous. The script and plot are fast, frothy, and very funny. This classic show is brought to life with a modern sensibility. It is also an homage to another time and place, more romantic, less worrisome, both sophisticated and silly at the same time." - Director, Michael Ryken.

Broadway By the Bay will also be featuring ANYTHING GOES at the Golden State Theatre in Monterey from November 29th through December 7th. "We are thrilled for the opportunity to create more awareness about Broadway By the Bay and offer a touring experience for our artists" says Artistic Director, Amanda Folena. "We have a strong and valuable partnership with the Fox Theatre and look forward to solidifying our relationship even more by promoting our shows at their sister venue in Monterey. Our mission is to inspire, educate and engage our community and local talent through the power of musical theatre, and to extend this service to another exciting Bay is beyond anything we could have hoped for."

ANYTHING GOES features Katie Jaime (Reno Sweeney), Adam Cotugno (Billy Crocker), Samantha Cardenas (Hope Harcourt), Ray D'Ambrosio (Moonface Martin), and Tomas Theriot (Evelyn Oakleigh).

The creative team includes Michael Ryken (Director), Robyn Tribuzi (Choreographer), Sean Kana (Musical Director), Fred Sharkey (Set Designer), Margaret Toomey (Costume Designer), Michael Ramsaur (Lighting Designer), and Jonathan Hayward (Sound Designer).
