American Musical Theatre of San Jose presents Guys and Dolls, playing October 9 through 21 at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. The Tony Award-winning musical comedy with a score by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows tells the tale of two gamblers and the ladies in their lives. For tickets ($14.75-$74) and information, call 1.888.455.SHOW (7469) or visit www.amtsj.org.

"First produced in 1950, Guys and Dolls has gone on to become the quintessential American musical comedy. A musical fable of Broadway based on a story and characters by Damon Runyon, Swerling and Burrows' hilarious plot centers on a unique wager between New York gamblers Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit," state press notes, "The bet is that the handsome Masterson must take a doll of Detroit's choosing to Havana, Cuba, for dinner, and Detroit selects Miss Sarah Brown, a rather reserved sergeant at the Save-a-Soul Mission. Loesser's immortal songs include 'Luck Be a Lady,' 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat' and 'If I Were a Bell.'"

Last seen in San Jose as Maria in AMTSJ's The Sound of Music, Sarah Uriarte Berry returns to play Sarah Brown. Her numerous Broadway credits include The Light in the Piazza (Franca), Taboo (Nicola), Disney's Beauty and the Beast (Belle) and Les Miserables (Eponine). Rick Hilsabeck returns to AMTSJ to play Nathan Detroit. He won praise at AMTSJ for his portrayal of Herbie in 2006s Gypsy. Broadway credits include: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Caractacus Potts) and national tours of The Phantom of the Opera, Parade, Ragtime and the world premiere of Stephen Sondheim's BounceBurke Moses makes his AMTSJ debut as Sky Masterson. Moses created the roles of Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Herakles in Sondheim's The Frogs as well as appearing in the Tony Award-winning revivals of Kiss Me, Kate (Fred/Petruchio) and Guys and Dolls (Sky Masterson). Michele Ragusa stars as Miss Adelaide. Her numerous New York stage credits include Urinetown, A Class Act, Ragtime and Titanic.  Also making his AMTSJ debut is Roland Rusinek (Broadway's Phantom of the Opera) as Nicely Nicely Johnson.
