Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announces its 2013-14 board of trustees, a team of exemplary leaders and art advocates from the Bay Area's leading organizations and companies who will steer the Theatre through its 46th season. At its annual board of trustees meeting, the board elected author and retired McGraw-Hill executive Thalia Dorwick as its president, welcomed new and returning members, and reaffirmed its commitment to Berkeley Rep's mission to produce and present ambitious and innovative theatre.

"I'm thrilled to serve as president of the board," remarks Dorwick. "I've been coming to the Theatre for decades and have been a member of the board for over eight years. I'm honored to serve in this new capacity. I have always admirEd Berkeley Rep's deep and unwavering commitment to produce and present engaging work. Berkeley Rep's name is synonymous with excellence. As we look to the future, we are committed to continuing that excellence in a manner that is true to the Berkeley Rep spirit."

Berkeley Rep begins it 2013-14 season with an all-time record-level subscribership of nearly 18,000 individuals, proving that, now more than ever, Bay Area residents and visitors value its presentation of provocative and adventurous theatre. Even as its already-extended production of the 2013 winner of the Tony Award for Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, earns rave reviews and delights audiences in the Roda Theatre, Berkeley Rep continues to draw national attention for its productions. In the last seven years, seven of Berkeley Rep's shows have landed on Broadway, including August's sold-out run of No Man's Land featuring legendary actors Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.

"The Theatre's continued success is due, in large part, to our board of trustees, who are among the Bay Area's best, most thoughtful individuals," says Susan Medak, managing director of Berkeley Rep. "We're thrilled to have Thalia Dorwick, a true champion of the Theatre, as president for the upcoming term. We are also pleased to welcome new members to the board and to welcome back a few past trustees who will return to our board after some time away. We are eager to see where their passion and expertise will take us as we move toward the next exciting chapter of Berkeley Rep's history."
