A.C.T. Launches New Family Series

By:

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announces a brand-new subscription series for families who love theater. The A.C.T. Family Series introduces young people (ages 5-19) and their parents to the wonders of live performance.

Conveniently scheduled on Saturday afternoons, the subscription series allows theatergoers to select any four plays from the season, including the holiday favorite A Christmas Carol, and offers unprecedented savings up to 65%: adult series are priced at $200 (orchestra seats) and $175 (mezzanine seats); youth tickets are $75 (orchestra and mezzanine seats).

Each performance in the series includes an interactive preshow workshop for kids and youth led by an A.C.T. artist, allowing attendees to get hands-on experience with a specific design or performance element highlighted in that production. The first workshop for Once in a Lifetime featured A.C.T. costume design assistant Jessie Amoroso demonstrating the tricks of the numerous quick changes in the show to a rapt group of young audience members and their parents. Some plays may not be suitable for preteen audiences; please note suggested ages for each play below. For more information about the A.C.T. Family Series and to purchase tickets, please visit act-sf.org/family or call 415.749.2250.

"A.C.T. has been the place where young San Franciscans are introduced to the magic of theater for generations," said A.C.T. Executive Director Ellen Richard. "We're excited to be able to offer this new series to make our shows more accessible and affordable to youth audiences and their parents who want to share this experience with them."
