The Old Globe Releases Statement Regarding Coronavirus And COVID-19
Read The Old Globe's note to the San Diego community regarding Coronavirus and COVID-19:
"The Old Globe is open for business. Amid this fast-developing situation, our performances and other programs are continuing as scheduled.
We consider the safety and security of our patrons, visitors, artists and employees our highest priority. We are monitoring the CDC's evolving recommendations for avoidance and containment of the coronavirus. We remain proactive as we put in place thoughtful precautions, and we remain as vigilant and informed as possible. We expect that The Old Globe's daily work and operations will continue without disruption, and we are working to keep audiences, artists, staff, volunteers, and guests safe and comfortable.
To help us keep our environment a healthy one, our management has provided staff with CDC resources for more information and best practices. We are encouraging everyone to follow CDC guidelines to regularly wash their hands, cover a cough or sneeze, and remain at home when feeling unwell.
We have provided additional resources (handwashing supplies, tissues, sanitizing wipes, etc.) that are readily available throughout the Globe campus. We are taking a more-than-usually aggressive approach to cleaning and sanitizing our auditoriums, including changing cleaning products to disinfect surfaces. We are issuing gloves to ushers for protection when scanning tickets and distributing programs.
If you aren't feeling well, we ask that you please call to reschedule your tickets. We will waive all ticket exchange fees due to illness until further notice.
Above all, we are committed to a sense of calm and normalcy. For thousands of years the theatre has been a community gathering place that brings respite and joy in times of anxiety. We have an important role to play as we serve San Diego with moving and excellent work. The Old Globe believes that theatre matters, and our commitment is to make it matter to more people, in a clean and healthy environment.
Thank you for supporting this non-profit institution at a crucial time. And thank you for your help in keeping our community safe and healthy!"
