The San Diego REPertory Theatre is getting ready for opening night of its new show BOOM. But that didn't stop the cast and crew from holding a blood drive yesterday for the Red Cross. A Red Cross Bloodmobile was parked outside of the the Arts Tix booth on Broadway Circle, just steps away from the Lyceum Theatre, where BOOM is being staged. Everyone who donated blood received goodies from the REP, including a free show ticket!

Written by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, BOOM tells the story of a marine biologist and his hard-edged female companion (who he met online!) as they prepare for the apocalypse. Directed by REP Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse, BOOM is a madcap comedy that suggests hope is worth holding on to precisely because we don't know what will happen next.  A dynamite cast has been assembled for BOOM, including Steven Lone as the strange, but loveable marine biologist Jules; Rachel Vanwormer as his less-than-romantic counterpart Jo and Sylvia M'Lafi Thompson as Barbara, the audience's tour guide through the duo's cataclysmic adventure. Opening Night is Friday, January 15 at 8pm and performances continue through January 31, 2010 at The Lyceum Theatre.

Tickets: $29-47 (Student Discount $18)
