Coronado Playhouse Presents SONGS FOR A NEW YEAR Coronado Playhouse 2018 Season continues with Songs For A New Year, an evening of the works of Jason Robert Brown, presented by The Prosecco Players, running for three performances on March 2-4, 2018 at Coronado Playhouse. The Playhouse's 2018 concert series highlights the talents of three eminent American songwriters. This first production, Songs For A New Year, features the works of the multi award-winning composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown.

Jason Robert Brown is an artist known for his dazzling scores to several of the most renowned musicals of his generation including The Last Five Years, his debut song cycle Songs for a New World, and the seminal Parade, for which he won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Score. He has been hailed as, "one of Broadway's smartest and most sophisticated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim," (Philadelphia Inquirer), and his, "extraordinary, jubilant theater music," (Chicago Tribune) has been heard all over the world. The New York Times refers to him as, "a leading member of a new generation of composers who embody high hopes for the American musical." Mr. Brown's music, including the cabaret standard "Stars and the Moon," has been performed and recorded by Audra McDonald, Billy Porter, Betty Buckley, Karen Akers, Renée Fleming, Philip Quast, Jon Hendricks and many others.

With these three CPH performances, The Prosecco Players brings its tribute to Mr. Brown's extraordinary and diverse repertoire. This concert production features new arrangements of Jason Robert Brown's unforgettable songs from The Last Five Years, Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Urban Cowboy, 13 and of course, his powerful song cycle Songs For A New World.
