Mindy Young likes to do imaginative and energetic family shows that children will love but adults will also find witty and appealing. As a guest director for the SCERA Center for the Arts, she believes she has found it with Disney's "My Son Pinocchio," complete with the beloved songs from the Disney film but given even more charm and sophistication with a score of original songs by Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz. Check out production photos below!

The classic songs "When You Wish Upon A Star" and "I've Got No Strings" from the motion picture are included, and Schwartz, known for his scores for "Wicked," "Enchanted," "Children of Eden," "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Prince of Egypt" has brought additional charm and heart to the classic story with new compositions.

"This show is fun and definitely for families," says Young, who is filling the stage with more than 60 players. "We had a lot of families audition together and I was able to cast eight family groups."

The performance will open April 20 in Showhouse II at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 S. State, Orem, Utah. It will play through May 12 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Reserved-seat tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children (3-11), students with identification and seniors (65+) and are available from 10am-6pm weekdays and Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm at the main office, by calling (801) 225-ARTS, online at www.scera.org or at the door 30 minutes prior to performance.

The story, a classic since the novel was published in 1883 and Disney breathed new life into it with a beloved 1940 movie, captures the magic of an aging toymaker and his puppet. A delightful mix of heartwarming fairytale and action-packed adventure, audiences will follow Pinocchio's journey from awkward wooden puppet to a real, live boy and Geppetto's transformation from demanding creator to a real, live father.
