David Archuleta to Perform at SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre, 6/20

By:
David Archuleta, who shot to fame as a 16-year-old during the seventh season of FOX Television's "American Idol," will be one of the SCERA's shooting stars this month at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem Monday, June 20 at 8 p.m.

Archuleta received runner-up honors on "Idol" when more than 30 million television viewers as well as the "Idol" judges fell in love with his angelic voice. In subsequent years, Archuleta signed with Jive Records where his first single, "Crush," debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of its release. The popular singer has released four best-selling albums and brings in capacity audiences whenever he appears with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

General admission tickets for the performance are $25 adults and $20 for children (age 3-11) and $20 for seniors (age 65 and older). Reserved seating areas are sold out. Tickets are available at www.scera.org, by calling 801-225-ARTS, or in person at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays.

Archuleta is clearly a Utah favorite.

SCERA expects the same kind of sell-out crowd for the beloved performer. "To say we were thrilled to secure David Archuleta would be an understatement," says Adam J. Robertson, SCERA's President and CEO. "Despite his enormous talent, he remains a humble human being."

Archuleta's fame escalated after "Idol" as he won Breakout Artist, Love Song and Music Tour for Teen Choice Awards and the Rising Male Star at the ALMA Awards. Archuleta made his acting debut on the Nickelodeon show "iCarly," and appeared on "Hannah Montana," where he sang, "I Wanna Know You" with Miley Cyrus.

He took a break from recording to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Santiago, Chile from 2012 to 2014 and also recorded the song "Glorious" for the recently released "Meet for Mormons" movie. Upon returning from his mission he traveled to the Middle East to perform for U.S. troops and has recorded music in Nashville for a new album.
