Sierra Repertory Theatre Announces 2018 Youth Workshops

Sierra Repertory Theatre is proud to continue bringing professional arts education to Tuolumne County in its 2018 Season. This year SRT Jr. will present three youth workshop productions, including Disney's Beauty and the Beast jr. All SRT Jr. Workshops are lead by qualified professional actors and educators. This year, SRT Jr. Workshops will be directed by local favorite Randi Linee, who will also be playing the role of Mrs. Potts in SRT's Mainstage production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast ! " Every SRT Jr.

Participant can expect to gain an understanding of acting, proper singing techniques, stage terminology, basic music theory, movement and dance - as well as the " how to's " that go into the operation of a professional theatre, " says Linee. " Students will be guided to properly utilize their time backstage vs. onstage, learn theatre etiquette and understand that we are there to nurture and develop their committed and dedicated talents. "

Randi Linee has been a featured soloist and performer with Modesto Performing Arts, Townsend Opera, Merced Symphony, Merced Playhouse, Sierra Rep and many more. She teaches Music & Performing Arts at University Charter.

Linee has been supporting SRT with young talent for several ye ars. Many have seen her students in the SRT productions of The Music Man (Winthrop, young band members), Les Misérables (young Cosette), The Sound of Music (Brigitta), Annie (Annie), and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to name a few ! " One of the things I'm most excited about for 2018 is Beauty and the Beast jr., " says SRT Producing Artistic Director Scott Viets.

" The junior version of the show is going to be presented on the same set and under the same lights as our professional summer production. We're going to be showcasing our students with professional production values. " Linee says, " It will be my pleasure and privilege to help guide these young performers on a journey from who they are to who are they are GOING TO BE. " 2018 SRT Jr. Workshops

A musical about a troupe of clowns who someday hope to be professionals ! Participants in this workshop are taught the basics of singing, dancing, and acting by trained, experienced professional actors. The perfect showcase for your little entertainer !

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (not to be confuse d with SRT's Mainstage production) A Musical Adaptation of the William Shakespeare Play Youth Edition By John Jacobson and Audrey Snyder Page 2 of 2 SRT Jr. Saturdays 10 : 30am - 12PM | February 17 - April 14 Ages 11 - 17 Tuition : $ 100 ($ 50 non - refundable down payment due with enrollment, $ 50 balance due February 17) One performance, April 14 | $ 5 General Admission

Teenagers will experience Shakespeare like never before in this fresh, musical rendition of the classic play. Participants in this workshop are taught the basics of understanding Shakespeare's language and musical theatre styles by trained, experienced professional actors. This is the perfect showcase for your young thespian.

DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. (not to be confuse d with SRT's Mainstage production) Music by Alan Menken Lyrics by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice Book by Linda Woolverton Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 9am - 12pm | July 9 - August 5 Ages 5 - 17 Tuition : $ 175 ($ 125 non - refundable down payment due with enrollment, $ 50 balance due July 9) Four performances, August 3 - 5 | $ 15. The Award - winning animated film and stage play comes to life in this romantic and beloved take on the classic fairy tale. Following SRT's Mainstage summer production, this all - kids version will perform with the company's professionally designed scenery and lighting. This is the perfect showcase for your young professio nal.
