Runaway Stage Production presents CATS, the acclaimed Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, November 4 - 27 at the 24th Street Theatre in Sacramento.

Based on T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, this mega hit show is set amongst a larger-than-life junkyard playground and is alive with favorite feline characters including Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Grizabella and Skimbleshanks. The Jellicle Cats come out to sing and dance on one special night of the year - the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

The show is best known for its creative choreography, a job RSP's Darryl Strohl De Herrera has dreamed of since he first saw the original London production.

"It was a big part of my inspiration to become a dancer," he said. "Throughout my college and performance career, I often thought about how new dance styles I encountered (modern ballet, jazz, Fosse musical theater styles) would pair with the music in CATS. The wonderful cast at RSP has been invaluable in providing the ideas and inspiration necessary to bring this epic musical to life in Sacramento."

"This cast is amazing," said director Bob Baxter. "I am looking forward to the reaction from our audiences. It has been some time since I have had such an excited cast ready and willing to entertain our audiences."

Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors, $21 for children under 8, and $22 for students. All performances are at the Sierra 2 Center's 24th Street Theatre located at 2791 24th Street in Sacramento. This is the final RSP show to be performed at the 24th Street Theatre. The company is currently fundraising for a new space. Visit www.runawaystage.com to purchase tickets, donate to the new building, or learn more.
