Parsons Dance Makes Folsom Debut at Harris Center, 3/6
Known for energized, athletic, and visually stunning ensemble work, Parsons Dance creates and performs contemporary American dance of extraordinary artistry. With work that has proven to be accessible and enriching to diverse audiences around the world, the company has collaborated with iconic artists across all disciplines, including Billy Taylor, Milton Nascimento, Allen Toussaint, William Ivey Long, Donna Karan, Annie Leibovitz, Rita Blitt and Alex Katz. Parsons Dance was founded by artistic director David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley. In the July 27, 2007 issue of The New York Times, Jennifer Dunning called David Parsons "one of the great movers of modern dance."

Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from the Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from noon to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Parking permits are issued at the time of ticket purchase. The Harris Center is located on the west side of the Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.

Based in New York City, the company embodies the choreographic expression and enormous talent of David Parsons. Since founding his company nearly three decades ago, Mr. Parsons has produced a vast body of work that is quintessentially American, with choreography that is extraordinarily engaging and uplifting. Mr. Parsons was a leading dancer with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, where Mr. Taylor created many roles for him in works such as Arden Court, Last Look and Roses. Mr. Parsons has appeared as a guest artist with the Berlin Opera, MOMIX, New York City Ballet, and Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project. As a director and choreographer, he has collaborated with such artists as John Corrigliano; Earth, Wind and Fire; Morton Gould; William Ivy Long; Santo Loquasto; Dave Matthews; Robert Rauschenberg; Steely Dan and many more. The Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College brings the community together to share in cultural experiences featuring the work of artists from throughout the region and around the world. Built and operated by the Los Rios Community College District, the $50 million, state-of-the-art regional performing arts center boasts three intimate venues with outstanding acoustics, an art gallery, a recording studio, elegant teaching spaces, plenty of safe parking and all the other amenities of a world-class performing arts venue. Each year the Center hosts approximately 400 events attracting upwards of 150,000 annually.
