Sacramento's California Stage is launching "Third Age - Onstage," a professionally oriented Company of senior actors to create and present theatrical productions for Sacramento audiences. The company will begin by presenting a group of vintage radio scripts (mystery, comedy, etc.) in readings -- sound effects and all -- before live audiences. They will be broadcast over radio station KUBU-FM (96.5).

Shane Carpenter -- KUBU Program Director -- says, "The Radio Dramas are a welcome addition to programming on the station. We are happy to note that local writers are interested in developing plays on current issues as well."

The scripts include such classics as "Boston Blackie," "Suspense," "Broadway is My Beat," and Agatha Christie's "Case of the Careless Client." Producer Carol Cullens added, "We'll also be producing several shorter radio scripts. These tightly written tales are guaranteed to chill the heart in ten minutes or less."

Cullens added, "We've also acquired a group of fine Sacramento directors, including Mark Heckman, Ray Tatar, and Maggie Upton. Third Age is a kind of Repertory Theatre that will help complete the casts in every show. You have seen these actors on Sacramento stages for many, many years." The Company includes (but is not limited to) the following local actors:

Wayne Cook, Lisa Erwin, Michael Erwin, Mark Fejta, Michael Garabedian, Martin Ide, Kate Muris, Daryl Petrig, Daniel Richer, Cynthia Robinson, Shirley Sayers, Robin Southworth, Lauren Toscano, and Jeanette Trimble.

Third Age plans to follow up the radio presentations with live productions of several memorable scripts on one of our stages. Call 916- 451-5822, or Google California Stage for further information.
