Imagination Theater Scores 10 Elly Award Nominations

Imagination Theater, located in Placerville on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, has received ten Elly Award nominations for all of their productions for 2012-2013. The funny British Farce, Run for Your Wife, received three nominations including those for Direction (Lanny Langston), Supporting Actor (Chris Celestin), and Set Design, Virgil Toothaker. The theater also receive nominations for The Secret Garden for Costume Design (Carol Cramer), two nominations for The Little Mermaid, Jr. including Costume Design (Kim Havercroft and Pam Harrison) and Sound Design (Marc Bonham). The theater received four nominations for The Little Princess including two for Supporting Adult Actress in a Young People's Musical (Dale Wallerstein and Tori Kientz), Supporting Child Actress (Trinity Harwell), and Costumes (Karen Wolfe).

The 31st Annual Elly Awards are presented by the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance (SARTA) and honor outstanding achievements of community theaters and artists in the Sacramento area. The Elly Awards are named for the late Eleanor McClatchy, who was a devoted patron of the local arts. Awards will be presented in September in Sacramento.

Imagination Theater, a nonprofit organization, is now in the thirteenth season of presenting live theater in El Dorado County. The next two productions are the thrilling dark comedy, Deathtrap, playing from September 6-29 and the Tony award winning, full Broadway musical, Les Miserables, playing November 29 to December 29.
