Disney's BEAUTY & THE BEAST to Play Gallo Center, 1/20-21

By:
"Disney's Beauty and the Beast," the award-winning Broadway hit musical, will return to the Gallo Center for the Arts for a two-night engagement in January. Produced by NETworks Presentations, this elaborate theatrical production previously played to capacity audiences during a five-performance run at the Gallo Center in 2010.

"We are more than pleased to bring back this thrilling production," said Gallo Center CEO Lynn Dickerson. "It is certainly one of most popular Broadway touring shows the Gallo Center has ever presented."

Performances are at 6:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday, January 20 - 21. Tickets are $39 to $99, and may be purchased online at www.galloarts.org, by calling (209) 338-2100, or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto. Groups of 15 people or more receive a 15% discount on ticket prices. Information about group sales is available by calling (209) 338-5062.

This is an all-new production of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," which reunited the original creators of the Broadway show, including the director and choreographer, as well as the creative team responsible for costumes, lighting, scenic design, sound and music.

"Disney's Beauty and the Beast" features the animated film's Academy Award-winning score with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, with additional songs composed by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice. The book is written by Linda Woolverton.

An international sensation that has been seen by more 35 million people in 22 countries, "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" has been translated into 9 different languages.

"Disney's Beauty and the Beast" is the classic story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped in a spell placed by an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The production coming to the Gallo Center is presented by Boyett Petroleum, and sponsored by Del Monte Foods and Prime Shine Car Wash.
