The B Street Theatre is the first in California to present Venus in Fur, David Ives' titillating Tony Award-nominated new comedy.

When Thomas holds auditions for his adaptation of a scandalous 19th century romance novel, an actress like Vanda is the last person he expects to cast as his seductive femme fatale. But Vanda, who will stop at nothing to win the role of a lifetime, knows that flattery and guile will get her everywhere. An innocent casting call devolves into a racy cat-and-mouse game as the boundaries between actor, director, and character blur in Ives' smoldering smash hit show.

This summer, Sacramento patrons can only catch the nation's hottest new play at B Street. Venus in Fur earned David Ives' his first Tony nomination for Best Play in 2012. He has enjoyed a highly successful writing career since the 1970's-his collection of short plays All in the Timing has been widely produced-and Venus in Fur is his seventh Broadway credit after Is He Dead? (2007) and Dance of the Vampires (2002). Venus in Fur originally premiered at the Classic Stage Company in New York City in 2010, receiving three Lucille Lortell Award nominations, before transferring to Broadway. Nina Arianda's portrayal of Vanda On and Off-Broadway brought her an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination in 2011 and won her a Tony Award in 2012.

The cast features Dana Brooke as Vanda, Tyler Pierce as Thomas. The creative team includes Scenic Designer Samantha Reno, Costume Designer Tracy Prybyla, Lighting Designer Ron Madonia and Stage Manager Anthony Poston.
