Wagner returned to Yekaterinburg
For the opening of the new theater season: Opera and Ballet Theatre has produced a magnificent gift for their fans-staging of the Opera "the Flying Dutchman" by Richard Wagner. Works of the German composer's last time on the stage of the theatre were shown in 1937, and "the Flying Dutchman" in the Repertoire of the Yekaterinburg Opera entered for the first time. Such a landmark statement on the 200-year anniversary of Wagner, conducted by Maestro Michael Güttler (Germany), directed by Paul Curran and artist Gary McCann (United Kingdom), as well as the Chief invited conductor Elvira Gaifullina. Light score performance created Yevgeny Vinogradov.
"The Flying Dutchman" became the first in the list of reformed his compositions. This is evidenced by the presence of lejtmotivnoj system, the desire for a big dramatic scenes. After the premiere of the Opera, which took place January 2, 1843 in Dresden under the direction of Wagner, was not immediately, but gradually gained the lasting success throughout the world.

Michael Güttler, conductor:

With the Ekaterinburg company we are very long and carefully prepared for the premiere of "the Flying Dutchman", this helped me experience working on productions by Wagner at the Mariinsky Theatre in Printed. Now I see that the result here was decent. Wagner you can create-and theatre, choir and singers. I am happy that the Russian musicians are able to understand and experience this great music.

Wagner, for me, very much so. And not even because I have the attitude to German culture, and he was born in Dresden, where the composer was born. Wagner's Opera is the wave, wind, storm, it is the music of nature. And even if this element will not be visible on the stage, it will be heard. I share the idea of scenography at directing Karren. In "the Flying gollandce", which we set at the Mariinsky Theatre, the scenery of the classic on stage clearly resembles a ship, wave is also beautiful. But the modern language of theater and I understand. The more important thing in Opera is the music.

Paul Curran, Director:

In Yekaterinburg I invited Michael Güttler, a man of enormous talent. I have a great interest in this work, taking into account two important factors: anniversary of Wagner, that the world marks this year, and that this is the first performance of "Flying Dutchman" in history by the theatre.

I think our performance will not quite normal. Wagner's Opera, written in the 19th century, still bright. And now you want to put it so that it was true. You cannot say exactly what year the action occurs, because each era has ties with both future and past. "The Flying Dutchman" is a story about love, freedom and duty. And yet, if you go against the crowd, you need to be very strong.

His operas in Wagner gave a lot of new ideas to composers who went after him then. "The Flying Dutchman" has set a new example-and from that moment began to write differently. So a new path in music.
