9 to 5, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the 1980 hit film and set in the late 1970s. The story follows three coworkers — Violet, Judy, and Doralee — who are pushed to their limits and hatch a plan to get even with their sexist, egotistical boss. In a turn of events, the women live out their wildest fantasy, giving their boss the boot and transforming their workplace while he remains "otherwise engaged." This story of friendship and revenge blends humor with a thought-provoking look at workplace dynamics.
