Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) Hosts Cabaret & Comedy Night- 'A Spring Sing Thing' May 12

On Saturday, May 12, from 7 to 10 pm, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will host its seasonal fundraiser, "A Spring Sing Thing," a cabaret act featuring vocalists and comedians Lin Snider and Sally Sherwood accompanied by Blake Rowe on keyboard. The performance, a blend of popular musical standards combined with zany comedy, has toured the area for over 20 years in various guises and updates, drawing audiences throughout New York City and Westchester. Tickets for the evening, which includes a buffet of tasty edibles and a cash bar, are $40; it will be held at WCT's home, 23 Water Street in Ossining. Snider and Sherwood have played at NYC's landmark Symphony Space, the New-York Historical Society, clubs along the City's famous Restaurant Row, and at such cabaret houses as Don't Tell Mama, Broadway Baby and Panache as well as at theaters, museums, restaurants, colleges, and private soirees throughout the City and County.

AEA and SDC member Snider has toured nationally with Mitzi Gaynor in Anything Goes and has performed in TV as well as film. She has taught or directed at numerous venues from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts to NYU to Westchester Arts Council and the Yeshiva College Dramatic Society.

Sherwood (AEA, SAG-AFTRA) has appeared in productions of Dancing at Lughnasa and The Dining Room; in shows at the Amateur Comedy Club; with Soho Rep; and in musical offerings at the Encompass Theater, Village Light Opera Group (VLOG) and Lincoln Center.

Blake Rowe, pianist, teacher and singer-songwriter, received a Parents' Choice Award for his songs for children and honorable mention on the Children's Music Web Awards. Rowe teaches music at the Fieldston Lower Elementary School in Riverdale NY and performs at local village fairs, open mics and coffee houses. His solo piano CD, "Meditations at Midnight," is a collection of introspective harmonic explorations.

Westchester Collaborative Theater is a multicultural, cooperative theater company located in Ossining, NY, dedicated to developing new work for the stage and bringing live theater to the community. It is comprised of local playwrights, actors, and directors who employ a Lab approach in which new stage works are nurtured through an iterative process of readings, critiques, and rewrites.
