Little Radical Theatrics, Inc. (Fatima Viegas, Executive Producer) is announcing the first scheduled production of its 2018 season.

SHREK THE MUSICAL
Music by Jeanine Tesori
Book & Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire
Based on the Dreamworks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig
JANUARY 2018

Little Radical Theatrics will proudly be going green again -- from garden to swamp -- when it brings the hilarious tale of everyone's favorite unlikely hero to dazzling new life onstage this winter! Featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori and a book by David Lindsay-Abaire, SHREK THE MUSICAL is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of misfit, past-their-prime fairy tale creatures (Pinocchio, the Three Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf, Peter Pan, the Ugly Duckling, Fairy Godmother, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they've been evicted by the short and short-tempered Lord Farquaad. So, Shrek strikes a deal: "I'll get your homes back, if you give me my home back!" But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He'll give the fairy tale creatures their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona from a dragon-guarded tower. Shrek obliges, and sets off on a life-changing journey, alongside his sidekick, a wisecracking, fun-loving Donkey, and finds something appealing - something strange and different - about this pretty princess-in-waiting. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets? All of the characters you know and love from the film will make the leap from the screen to the stage in this ridiculously zany romp that promises to be part romance, part twisted fairy tale, and all-around irreverent fun!

RUNAWAYS
Words and Music by Elizabeth Swados

APRIL 2018

OPEN TO GRADES 6th - 12th
Nominated for five 1978 TONY Awards (Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Book being among them), RUNAWAYS has since become something of a cult favorite, with songs that blend different musical styles like rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and spoken-word with a narrative that is uncompromising in its grit, truth, joy and exuberance about growing up in troubling times and being all the stronger for it that truly resonates. Little Radical Theatrics is thrilled to be presenting Westchester with a fresh interpretation of the late Elizabeth Swados' gift to musical theater, which will observe the 40th Anniversary of the original production. With plans to acquire a cast of 25 kids and teens of all ethnicities, body types, gender identification, and ability levels, this production promises a fast and furious, poignant and intense 90 minutes of undiluted teen spirit that is guaranteed to leave actors and audiences feeling windblown, hyped-up and ready to race through the most torpid night. With Runaways' unique ensemble based casting, unlike many other musicals, each young person cast will have a monologue, solo or featured solo in a group number!

RAGTIME

Artistic Director: Michael Mirra

Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Music by Stephen Flaherty
Book by Terrence McNally
Based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow

JULY 2018

In an effort to truly live up to its name, Little Radical Theatrics will be bringing to Westchester a wildly theatrical, moving, and innovative retelling of one of musical theater's most celebrated contemporary classics, RAGTIME. Set in turn-of-the-20th-century New York, a trifecta of inspiring tales are woven together -- of an upper-class wife who unexpectedly becomes a single mother, a determined Jewish immigrant, and a daring, young Harlem musician -- united by their courage, compassion, and belief in the promise of the future, as the original melting pot is on the verge of boiling over. Together they confront the timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America. With the aid of an ensemble cast of all ages, a stark, minimalist set, and the limitless possibilities of imagination, we enter the famed attic of "the house at the crest of the Broadview Avenue hill in New Rochelle, New York", wherein so much storied history had been shaped, and will be brought back to miraculous new life.
