The Getaway Driver is a new crime drama written by Trinity Rep Playwright-in-Residence Deborah Salem Smith and Resident Artistic Company Member Charlie Thurston, directed by outgoing Artistic Director Curt Columbus. Inspired by the true story of Katherine Ann Power and Clare Schroeder, the play follows two women bound by a life-altering moment: a young activist who drove the getaway car in a 1970 robbery that ended in tragedy and launched the longest run of any woman on the FBI's Most Wanted List, and the daughter of the person killed that day. More than 20 years later, as one woman seeks redemption, the other finds her voice. The production is a rolling world premiere, developed and commissioned by Trinity Rep, and will subsequently travel to Central Square Theater in Cambridge, MA and Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT.
