Providence Performing Arts Center Announces RENT Lottery Tickets, Runs 11/17-22

The Providence Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce that there will be a ticket lottery for RENT: THE BROADWAY TOUR; the lottery will take place two hours before each curtain time at the PPAC Box Office, located at 220 Weybosset Street. Lottery seats are located in the first two rows of the orchestra section and are $20 each. Patrons MUST BE PRESENT for the lottery drawing two hours prior to each curtain time. Lottery drawing winners may then purchase the $20 tickets with cash only at the Box Office window.

"In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson, the show's creator, we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them," said original RENT producer Kevin McCollum. "Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theatre that's available to everyone."

The tradition of the $20 tickets began in New York when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre. Since then, people have lined up as early as the night before to guarantee their purchase of the $20 tickets. The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering orchestra seats for $20 in each city the show will play.

RENT performs at the Providence Performing Arts Center November 17 - 22. Performance times are Tuesday, November 17 at 8P; Wednesday, November 18 at 7:30P; Thursday, November 19 at 7:30P; Friday, November 20 at 8P; Saturday, November 21 at 2P & 8P; and Sunday, November 22 at 1P & 6:30P.
