Primary Trust at Boise Contemporary Theater

Malcolm Barrett is a veteran stage and screen actor, born and bred in Brooklyn. He attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and has an honorary Master’s degree in film from the NYFA. In NY, he served as a founding member and Artistic Director for five years at Real Theatreworks and was a former Nuyorican Poetry Cafe national team member. In LA, he served as a founding member and Artistic Director of the LA-based theatre company Ammunition Theatre for 5 years. Partial stage work includes Cormac McCarthy’s The Stonemasons, the Pulitzer Prize-winning W;t (1st National Tour), Tybalt in Romeo & Juliet (Real Theatreworks), Brushstroke (Odyssey Theatre), and an Ovation Award for the play, The Recommendation (Theatre Asylum). Barrett wrote and led the play, Brain Problems (The Pico), which was nominated for an Ovation Award for writing. Short plays he’s written include Trial By Fury (MCC Theatre) and The Board Room (Acme Theatre), and co-writer of the full-length dance musical tour of Memphis Jookin The Musical with Lil Buck (The Orpheum). Emmy-nominated series’ work includes Genius: Aretha Franklin opposite Tony-Award winner Cynthia Erivo, The Boys, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Sopranos, among others. Favorite series regular roles include Better Off Ted, Preacher, Timeless and The Changeling (with Academy Award winner Lakeith Stanfield). Movie appearances include the award-winning Dear White People (Sundance, Grand Jury Prize), American Violet (Best Feature, New Hampshire Film Festival), The Hurt Locker (Oscar Award, Best Picture), among others. Partial theater directing credits include In Arabia We’d All Be Kings, Fallen Patriots, Mercy (a reading, Pico Theatre), among others. Onscreen directing credits include Hero In A Hoodie and the comedic series’ Kym and Khy and Wed-Locked. He can most recently be seen on the suspense drama Average Joe (Prime, BET+, Netflix) starring Deon Cole.

Ben Cain is a Flint, MI native who currently lives in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. Some of his theater credits include King Hedley II (Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater), Joe Turner's Come and Gone (Mark Taper Forum - LA), Radio Golf (The Ensemble Theater - Houston), Embedded (The Public Theater - NYC), and The Exonerated (The Actors Gang - LA). Some of his film and television credits include FBI: Most Wanted (CBS), Bel-Air (Peacock), Cruel Summer (Freeform), Buried in Barstow (Lifetime), 12 Desperate Hours (Lifetime), and That’s Funny (Amazon and Apple). David Anthony Smith is a stage, film, and television actor. He is embarking on his twenty-fifth consecutive season with the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, where he has appeared in over sixty productions. Memorable roles include Henry V, Iago, Hercule Poirot, and Benedick. Regionally, he has performed at The Old Globe, South Coast Rep, Laguna Playhouse, Madison Rep, Great Lakes Theater, and the Shakespeare Festivals of Utah, Colorado, Rhode Island, Lake Tahoe, and Nevada. In addition to numerous television appearances, he has starred in the feature films The Hanoi Hilton, Terror in Paradise, Field of Fire, and Judgment Day.

Cloie Wyatt Taylor is a multimedia artist and NYU/Tisch alum, splitting her creative time between Los Angeles, New York, and London. Through her lifestyle empowerment brand HeyCloie, she uses arthouse storytelling, original music, and compassionate accountability to inspire individuals to dream bigger and be bolder—think your all-American Auntie meets punk-rock Oprah. As a vocalist/singer-songwriter, she channels Tina Turner’s raw energy, Lady Gaga’s theatricality, and Ella Fitzgerald’s velvety depth, crafting grooves rooted in funk, blues, and cinematic soul-rock. Her single Mercury Rising continues to build momentum. Notable credits include The Mattachine Family (AppleTV), Partners in Rhyme (AMC/ALLBLK), and Future Man (Hulu). Alongside co-creative Eric Prochnau, she makes her directorial debut with the dark comedy Breakdown for a Friend (FFTG Awards, Grand Jury Selection). Together, they co-founded their production suite, The Prochnaus. With her father, Emerson Taylor, she also co-stewards Taylor Urban Farm, a legacy agricultural project rooted in sustainability and community-building. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist now celebrating almost 30 years in Boise, Idaho, Thomas is delighted to be returning to BCT’s Main Stage. One of the region’s most versatile musicians, Paul’s output as a bandleader/solo artist, sideperson, and session performer covers a wide range of genres. Besides leading his own band, Paul has been found in: Jesse Blake Rundle, Jan Reed Quartet, Katie G. & The Half-Maccs, Diamond Empire Band, any number of Tribute bands (Eagles, WEEN, Grateful Dead, and others) & was previously a member of the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale. BCT credits include: Hedwig & The Angry Inch (2016), Good Bitch Goes Down (2018), TammyLisa: Misery To Meaning (2019), and numerous plays in the Children’s Reading Series. His solo albums, Yours, Etc. (2005), House On Fire (2009), Goodbye, Waterloo (2011), Interference (2015), Singalongs (2016), and No Air Anywhere (2019) are available at Downtown Boise’s The Record Exchange, as are his side projects.
